're tracking developing news of an accident that shut down a san francisco intersection. a driver took out a fire hydrant at folsom and essex near the onramp to the bay bridge. claudine wong is out there. are they getting close to reopening it yet, claudine? >> reporter: well, close, probably not but they are doing some important work right now. within the last half-hour since we last checked in with you, the crews for this scaffolding company have started to arrive. once the bus gets out of the way, you can see the work they are doing. what they told me they need to do is repair the collapsed bottom part of the scaffolding. once they do that -- and that could take a while -- then they will test it to make sure it is safe. if you pan across essex, you can see the entire area is shut down. that's because the fire department is out there. if there's any question about the structural integrity. this is entrance to the bay bridge. traffic at this point, just has to go around. let me show you video from this morning. it was about 3:0 that a san francisco police officer try -- 3:30 that a san fr
: a couple found bound and gagged in the middle of a san francisco street. the discovery that turned into a homicide investigation. >>> and a huge day for a huge shipping company. why this could be a record- breaking day for fed-ex. >>> good morning. i'm dave clark. >> i'm it it. >>> we be -- i'm tori campbell. >>> we begin with a big rig fire. it happened at 3:00 this morning. tara moriarty is live with more. good morning, tara. >> reporter: good morning. it's a route that this truck driver says he's taken twice a month. when he came through this parking lot here, there was a wire. he says that's not normally here. that's what the big rig snagged. if you look here you can see the remains of the truck here. now, we could see and hear sparks. there was an explosion and could you feel the heat yards away. it happened around 3:15 at sweeney camp which is part of the juvenile detention facility off fairmont drive. two men were trapped inside the big rig hit the power lines. he just happens to be a volunteer firefighter. >> he trains as a volunteer firefighter told him if you are in energ

"mornings on 2" begins right now. >>> well, good morning. welcome to "mornings on 2." i'm dave clark. >> i'm tori campbell. it's wednesday, december 12th. >>> we're following developing news in san jose. just hours ago, a pickup truck slammed into an apartment building where children were sleeping. ktvu's janine de la vega is in san jose and spoke to the children's father. good morning, janine. >> reporter: the father told me his family has not slept much but any are breathing a sigh of relief. their little girl was just brought home from the hospital. this is after a truck ran off the road. you can see where the tire marks are here and it ran off the road and plowed down a fence there and smashed into a bedroom. police say the driver of the truck traveling eastbound on taylor veered into oncoming traffic and crashed into an apartment at the villa apartments on 23rd street. now, here's a look at the damage inside. the truck crashed into a roo
in the upcoming term. california's proposition 8 is not on that list. ktvu's brian flores is in san francisco to tell us what that means for same-sex marriage here in california. >> reporter: hi, dave, good morning. it appears for now that opponents of proposition 8 will have to wait until the end of the week for any decision on this from the u.s. supreme court. we were waiting to hear some decision. but it appears the supreme court will at least delay it until about friday, though. the key was whether the prop was gonna be on their cases. now, if that happens, that means the decision won't come until june. this postpones any decision until later this week. come friday morning, we'll be at this to see if the supreme court agrees with the lower court on whether gay marriage is unconstitutional or if they will keep prop 8 as voted on back in 2008. a lot of reac-- a lot of reaction from the castro district. we'll stay on this. back to you. >> thank you. now, our washington, d.c. newsroom is also following this. coming up at 7:15, we'll have more analysis of what this morning's developments could
